The Robert Gabriel Mugabe International (RGMI) Airport expansion project is now 97% complete.
This was said by the Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) development manager, Engineer Shamiso Makova on Thursday while addressing delegates during a tour of RGM International Airport. Said Makova:
We are finalising installing of the equipment in those areas of the extension of the international terminal building.
We should be done with that work by the end of June 2023. Then we are going to refurbish the current terminal buildings and that work should be done by the end of December 2023.
We have also constructed two new aprons to accommodate our four extra aerobridges that have been installed.
For now, on our international apron, we can accommodate seven aircraft on the stands.
If we have more aircraft, then we will utilise the domestic apron that is still available for our own use.
The expansion and upgrading of the terminal at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport are being done at a cost of US$153.
The company had similar projects at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo and the Victoria Falls International Airport.

” Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport are being done at a cost of US$153….” Really, that cheap?
I think that is the daily rate to bribe each & every person who has been involved. And that is a lifelong daily payment.
I loved working for Air Rhodesia at SAY and Air Zim at HRE in the late 70s and 80s. I had previously done 6 years with BA at LHR. As you can imagine Heathrow was fast, frenetic and furious, so stressful.
All that stress was left behind in London. SAY/HRE was a delight, so laid back but my colleagues were incredibly efficient.
We had a hugely talented workforce – coloured, black and white, working harmoniously like a large family.
