MSD Weather Report & Forecast: 07 To 09 March 2023

The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection at 4 PM on Tuesday 07 March 2023 valid until Thursday 09 March 2023:

PREAMBLE

The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is moving further northwards into Zambia. It left isolated light showers in the northern parts of Midlands, Harare Metropolitan, northern parts of Manicaland, Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland East Provinces, yesterday. These showers were coupled with lightning in some places.

Today’s morning hours were cloudy and mild in the southern districts of the Midlands, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland South, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces but became less cloudy by evening.

This was due to the continued drying effect caused by Tropical Storm Freddy (currently more than a thousand kilometres away, near the southwest coast of Madagascar) as it draws moisture away from Southern Africa.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY 08 MARCH 2023

Hot and humid conditions with brief cloudy periods and a slight chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms are anticipated in areas along the Zambezi Valley.
