Latvian Delegation Expected In Zimbabwe On Sunday

A delegation from Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affair is set to visit Zimbabwe from 5 to 8 March 2023.

In a statement on Friday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson Livit Mugejo said the visit is historic, as it is the first-ever such undertaking from the East European country. Said Mugejo:

A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia led by the Director-General in the Bilateral Relations Department, Ambassador Nils Jansons, will visit Zimbabwe from 5 to 8 March 2023.

This visit is historic, as it is the first-ever such undertaking from the Republic of Latvia and, is fully inscribed in the country’s Foreign Policy of Engagement through the opening of New Frontiers.

The purpose of the visit is to hold diplomatic consultations with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and other senior government officials and deepen relations with Zimbabwe.

Latvia is a country on the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Estonia. It is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU).
