"US$3.7k, And Not US$900k Was Stolen From Kambucha"

Police say US$3 702 was stolen at Kambucha Holdings in Harare between 1 AM and 2 AM on Wednesday.

In a statement posted on their official Twitter page, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said eight armed suspects raided Kambucha Holdings and seized a firearm from a security guard who was manning the premises.

The suspects then held hostage 8 workers before ransacking the administration block and forcibly opening a safe that contained the cash. Police said:

The ZRP confirms that investigations are being conducted in connection with an alleged Armed Robbery incident that occurred at Kambucha Holdings, Harare at 0135 hrs today where USD3 702.00 was stolen.

8 suspects who were armed attacked a security guard, took his firearm and held hostage 8 workers before ransacking the Administration block and forced open a safe.

Meanwhile, ZimLive had earlier reported sources as Kambucha as saying an estimated US$900 000 was stolen during the raid. Said a source:

The amount stolen is close to a million dollars but management plan to understate it to the police to avoid scrutiny.

Kambucha is an energy drink that its makers say has immune system-boosting qualities.
