Kamhuka Joins South African Club Pretoria Callies

Warriors defender Victor Kamhuka has resurfaced at South African Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies Football Club.

The 32-year-old joined Pretoria Callies as a free agent and signed a six-month contract.

Kamhuka played in the DStv Premiership before moving to Asia where he played for clubs in Myanmar, Malaysia and India.

Speaking in an interview with FarPost, Kamhuka claimed he rejected other offers from Asian clubs and opted to play in South Africa as playing close to Zimbabwe gives him a sense of security. He said:

I am here to help the team move out of the relegation zone, stay in the league, and possibly start gunning for promotion next season.

To be honest, I had offers from clubs in Asia, but I decided to join Callies on a short contract.

The club is willing to give me a full year, but we are yet to reach an agreement.

Currently, my focus is being active since I have been unattached.

Playing near my home and family in Zimbabwe also gives me a sense of security.

He said he is thrilled by working with former Kaizer Chiefs marksman Collins Mbesuma who was recently named first-team coach at the club. Said Kamhuka:

It thrills me to be working with Collins Mbesuma. We need no elaboration because he is a legend, and everyone knows that. I adore him.

With what he has achieved, he remains humble and free to us. The love he has shown me since I joined the club is amazing.

His interactions with me have been impactful, and I think it is the same with my teammates.

Kamhuka played for Dynamos and How Mine in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.
