Nakamba Looks To Put Injury Behind Him

Warriors midfielder Marvelous Nakamba says he is relishing the intensity of the Championship after joining Luton Town in January for the remainder of the 2022/2023 season.

The 29-year-old made his first start for the Hatters in their 1-1 draw at Coventry on Saturday.

He joined the Championship club on loan from Aston Villa on transfer deadline day after failing to make a single appearance for the club this season.

Nakamba, who had a knee injury last season, is now part of the Luton squad pushing to gain promotion to the English Premier League.

Speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio, the Zimbabwe international said he is looking to put his injury behind him. He said:

Life happens and now is the time to get back [into it]. The injury came up after I had been player of the month.

I am really grateful to Luton for giving me the chance. I’m going to give everything and always be positive.

I am looking forward to helping the team achieve the project. I like the intensity of the Championship and there are a lot of games here.

Nakamba revealed that his former Villa team-mate Henri Lansbury and compatriot Admiral Muskwe have been helping him settle in at Kenilworth Road.

Luton are fourth in the table, four points clear of Sunderland, the team immediately below the top six – but 12 points adrift of the top two.

The Hatters travel to Preston North End on Tuesday before hosting leaders Burnley on Saturday.
