Shona, Ndebele Provisional Drivers' License Exams To Start Next Month

Zimbabwe will have vernacular provisional drivers’ license examinations starting in February, Transport Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona has said. 

Previously, the examination, which one has to pass before being tested for the for the certificate of competency, was written only in English. 

Mhona revealed at the Road Safety Indaba held at Cresta Lodge that starting in February, the provisional license exam will also be written in Shona and Ndebele, while plans are in place for it to spread across all local languages.  

He said:

In February, they (Vehicle Inspectorate Department) will start questioning in Shona and you choose what you want.

The Highway Code translation is being done with the help of Midlands State University (MSU) and the process will be extended to all local languages so that every person will choose what they are comfortable with.
