Cristiano Ronaldo Could Still Play In The Uefa Champions League Next Season

Reports suggest that Cristiano Ronaldo could play in the Uefa Champions League (UCL) next season.

It is alleged that there is a clause in his contract with his newly-found club, Al Nassr, which allows him to sign for Newcastle United on loan if the English club qualifies for the UCL.

Al Nassr, a Saudi Arabian club, and Newcastle have the same owner, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.

Ronaldo had his Manchester United contract terminated during the 2022 Qatar World Cup after he did an interview with Piers Morgan in which he said that he does not respect United coach Erik ten Hag.

There had already been friction between him and the club and the interview was the final straw. United are now looking for another forward to replace him.

He reportedly tried in vain to rejoin Real Madrid or find any club in the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to defend his Champions League records including the all-time leading scorer in this continental tournament with 140 goals scored.

The only one capable of catching him any time soon is Lionel Messi who has 129 which means he is only 11 behind the Portuguese and 12 away from surpassing him.

The records matter especially considering that they are used to determine the greatest footballer of all time.

Lionel Messi recently won the World Cup with Argentina which is a blow to Ronaldo who is likely not to participate at any other World Cup.
