Zimbabwe Weather Report And Forecast: 4 - 6 December 2022

The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has reported that very little rainfall was recorded in some parts of the country. In a weather report and forecast seen by Pindula News, MSD said it expects sunny and hot weather conditions this week. Reads a report and forecast for the period 04 – o6 December 2022:

PREAMBLE

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON SUNDAY 04 DECEMBER 2022 VALID UNTIL TUESDAY 06 DECEMBER 2022.

There was thunder and lightning in Matabeleland South Province and southern parts of Midlands Province, but very little rainfall. Today, much of the country was sunny, humid and hot as north-easterly winds remained predominant. This northesterly airflow, coupled with an weak cloud band, are also slowly increasing the humidity and heat over Zimbabwe.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, MONDAY 05 DECEMBER 2022

Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland North and western parts of Midlands are expected to become increasingly cloudy from the western district spreading eastwards with isolated afternoon and evening thundershowers. It should be hot by day becoming mild towards evening. All other provinces are anticiapated to be mostly sunny and hot, though mild both morning and evening.

• Hot conditions increase the extent of evapo-transpiration as well as dehydration.

• Those engaged in such on-farm and other outdoor activities are reminded direct sunshine especially in the noon day hours may be detrimental to health.

• Less precipitation is anticipated, however, the potential for lightning strikes remain high, especially in Matabeleland South this weekend.

• Lightning is a major threat during this period, being inherent in thundershowers.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

• Take enough fluids to compensate water loss through dehydration with medical doctors’ advice.

• Wear a sunhat/sun-screen if you need to be outdoors for prolonged periods of time.

• Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight especially during midday.

• Where moisture stress is noted please irrigate, it may occur less in plots where Pfumvudza/Intwasa was practiced.

• Fix rooftops and make sure roofing sheets are well secure during these sunny days.

• Where possible, install lightning conductors on buildings, schools and homesteads.

• Always remember, when thunder roars it is best to be indoors.

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR TUESDAY 06 DECEMBER 2022

Cloudy, humid and hot condition are expected over much of the country from noon, with thundershowers starting in areas along and to the north of the mainwatershed, then spreading southward and eastward towards evening. Localized downpours are probable especially over high ground. It should be mild and less cloudy in the early morning hours, becoming mild and windy towards evening.
