The ZANU PF Harare Province Youth League says it intends to secure 1.5 million votes for the party in the 2023 general elections.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail on the sidelines of the Youth League’s inter-district meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Saturday, provincial youth chairperson Emmanuel Mahachi said they have already launched their campaign for the general elections. Said Mahachi:
As the Harare Province Youth League, we have launched our 2023 general election campaign.
At the just-ended Congress, we chose President Mnangagwa as our sole candidate for the 2023 elections.
We are excited to be officially launching our campaign for President Mnangagwa and we are now geared for the elections as ZANU PF Harare Province Youth League.
As a party, we are working towards mobilising people to secure five million votes and, as the Harare Province Youth League, we are targeting to mobilise people to get 1.5 million votes.
He said district executives should go down to the cell level to ensure that the youths are registered to vote.
In a separate interview with the same publication, the ZANU PF Harare provincial secretary for legal affairs in the Youth League, Sheima Muguza, said youths were fully behind President Mnangagwa. He said:
The meeting we just had brought together all the six administrative districts in Harare.
We met to also teach each other about conduct within the party and what is expected of us as the youth, and how we are going to move forward in campaigning for President Mnangagwa, as we are rallying behind him all the way to the ballot.
Mnangagwa, who was endorsed by all ZANU PF organs as the party’s sole presidential candidate in 2023, will likely face CCC leader Nelson Chamisa and MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora, among other candidates.
