Zimbabwe Weather Report & Forecast: 26 To 28 November 2022

The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection at 4 PM on Saturday 26 November 2022 valid until Monday 28 November 2022:

PREAMBLE

Most places across the country reported thunderstorms yesterday. However, most stations measured trace amounts of rainfall.

Amounts above 10mm were recorded in a few stations such as Mutoko (41mm), Mhondoro (22mm), Nyanga (13mm), and Rusape (13mm).

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, SUNDAY 27 NOVEMBER 2022

Humid conditions should persist. Widespread afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected countrywide with localised heavy downpours anticipated in places to the south of the central watershed. It should be mild in the morning becoming warm in the afternoon.

IMPACTS

  • Thunderstorms are always associated with lightning, strong winds and hail sometimes which pose danger to crops, animals, and people.
  • Localised heavier falls may lead to temporary flooding such as flash floods.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • If thunder roars seek safe shelter immediately; avoid isolated sheds, unprotected gazebos, or picnic shelters; Most lightning strikes occur at the beginning or towards the end of the storm; avoid rushing out until the storm has gone.
  • Farmers are advised to insure their crops against losses due to weather hazards like hail, especially tobacco farmers.
  • Avoid crossing flooded rivers or swollen streams where water is above your ankles.
  • Keep updated weatherwise.

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR MONDAY 28 NOVEMBER 2022

Cloudy and windy morning conditions with drizzle and rain are anticipated in Matabeleland South, Masvingo, and Manicaland Provinces. In the afternoon, however, localised thunderstorms are expected.

The rest of the country should start with partly cloudy conditions in the morning becoming cloudy and thundery in the afternoon. Localised falls in excess of 30 mm are probable in places.
