The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has said most parts of the country will record thundershowers and rains in the coming days. In a weather report and forecast seen by Pindula News, MSD said another cloud band is likely to affect western provinces. Reads a report and forecast for the period 06 to 08 November 2022:

PREAMBLE

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON SUNDAY 06 NOVEMBER 2022 VALID UNTIL TUESDAY 08 NOVEMBER 2022.

The prevailing humid atmospheric conditions over the country resulted in afternoon and evening thunderstorms in most parts of the country yesterday. Some of the rainfall amounts above 10mm were recorded at Rusape (38mm), Mvurwi (29mm), Nyanga (13mm) and Plumtree (10mm). It was cloudy and mild in most parts of the country this morning.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, MONDAY 07 NOVEMBER 2022

The humid conditions should persist across the country. It should be mostly cloudy and mild in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening in most parts of the country. Another cloud band is expected to start affecting the western provinces of the country late in the evening.

IMPACTS

• Lightning strikes are a major risk during this period; all areas have a potential risk for lightning strikes.

• The atmosphere is conducive to localized hailstorms and strong winds.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

• If caught in the open, please avoid sheltering under isolated trees or in isolated sheds as these tend to be natural lightning conductors.

• When a thunderstorm threatens, get inside a home or large building, please secure rooftops and any loose objects that might be blown away by the wind.

• In case of hailstorms, please be indoors during thunderstorms.

• Where possible, install lightning conductors on buildings.

OUTLOOK WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR TUESDAY 08 NOVEMBER 2022

Widespread thunderstorms with rain are expected across the country with isolated heavier falls in places, especially over the western provinces such as Matabeleland, and Bulawayo Metropolitan.
