Zimbabwe Weather Report & Forecast: 03 To 05 November 2022

The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection at 4 PM on Thursday 03 November 2022 valid until Saturday 05 November 2022:

The cloud system that swept eastward across the country resulted in the following significant rainfall amounts 47mm (Rusape), 21mm (Kutsaga), 18mm (Binga) and 17mm (Chinhoyi), yesterday.

However, by morning clouds were breaking over the western parts of the country, namely Matabeleland North, western areas of Matabeleland South into Bulawayo Metropolitan and northern districts of the Midlands.

This led to warm afternoon conditions with thundershowers along the main watershed. Meanwhile, another cloud band is approaching the western parts of the country from Botswana.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, FRIDAY 04 NOVEMBER 2022 

The western parts of the country (Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North and Bulawayo Metropolitan Provinces) are expected to have brief sunny skies and mild morning conditions, becoming cloudy and warm with thundershowers later in the afternoon.

Localized downpours are probable, especially over Bulilima and Mangwe Districts.

The southern part of Mashonaland East, Harare Metropolitan and Manicaland Provinces into Masvingo should be mostly cloudy and mild with isolated light showers which may be thundery in places.

Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, the bulk of Midlands into parts of Masvingo Provinces should be mostly sunny and warm, with brief cloudy periods and localized thundershowers.

IMPACTS

  • Lightning strikes are a major risk during this period, all areas have a potential risk for lightning strikes.
  • The atmosphere is conducive to localized hailstorms and strong winds.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • If caught in the open, please avoid sheltering under isolated trees or in isolated sheds as these tend to be natural lightning conductors.
  • When a thunderstorm threatens, get inside a home or large building, please secure roof tops and any loose objects that might be blown away by the wind.
  • In case of hailstorms, please be indoors during thunderstorms.
  • Where possible, install lightning conductors on buildings.

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR SATURDAY 05 NOVEMBER 2022

It is anticipated to be cloudy at first over the western parts of the country (Matabeleland North, parts of Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan into Midlands) with light rainshowers being probable. It should become less cloudy as the day progresses.

Cloudy and warm afternoon conditions are expected in the eastern parts of the country (Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Harare Metropolitan and Masvingo Province), coupled with thundershowers and localized heavy rains, especially over higher ground. However, the morning should be mostly sunny and rapidly warm up.

All other areas should be mostly sunny and warm.
