President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on ZANU PF members to shun violence in their campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Mnangagwa said this while addressing ZANU PF central committee members at the ongoing congress in the capital. He said:
The path of peace, tolerance, and non-violence must remain the fundamental hallmark of all mobilisation efforts as we galvanise the party membership and people of our great motherland to vote for ZANU PF.
An emphatic and resounding victory is certain and all party structures must put their shoulders on the wheel and work harder to achieve it and we are an unstoppable train and everybody is welcome in ZANU PF.
New central committee members who were elected early this month are set to be sworn in at the ongoing congress expected to end tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Civil Society Organisations and opposition political parties accuse ZANU PF supporters of unleashing violence against opposition members with impunity.
Last week, Bulawayo Proportional Representation legislator, Jasmine Toffa, was brutally attacked by suspected ZANU PF activists while on a campaign mission in Insiza.
The assailants used sticks, logs, fists, and stones to attack Toffa and her colleagues. | NewsDay
