Top ZANU PF Officials Lose In Central Committee Elections

Some ZANU PF bigwigs including former Health minister David Parirenyatwa, politburo member Tendai Chirau and ex-wife of ruling party deputy president Kembo Mohadi, Tambudzani lost in Central Committee elections that were held across the country on Saturday, 08 October 2022.

Allegations of vote buying during the polls were raised after ICT minister Jenfan Muswere arrived at a polling station in Manicaland with a truck full of bicycles, according to The Standard.

Results:

1). David Parirenyatwa and Lillian Zemura were defeated by David Mugomeza in the Murewa district.

2). Tambudzani Mohadi and Ambassador Aaron Maboyi lost in Beitbridge.

3). Former Transport Deputy minister, ex-Wedza South MP and ex-Zimbabwe National Road Authority (ZINARA) board chairperson Michael Madanha lost to Esther Gwatidzo

4). Current Wedza North MP and Foreign Affairs ministry official David Musabayana lost to Bertha Choto.

5). Chirau, a politburo member, also lost in Harare to Mavis Gumbo.

6). Sydney Sekeramayi won in Marondera. He was uncontested.

7). Webster Shamu won in Chegutu West.

8). Deputy information minister Kindness Paradza won in Makonde. He was uncontested.

The Central Committee is ZANU PF’s supreme decision-making body in-between congresses.
