The wife of the late music legend Zexie Manatsa, Stella, was laid to rest on Friday at the Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare, reported ZBC News.
Stella Manatsa passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, only seven months after the death of her husband.
Her son, Tendai, said her mother stood by her husband after he lost his memory following an accident in the 1980s. He said:
When our father had an accident in the late 80s, he had amnesia and mom was there and had to teach him everything.
Because he had lost his memory she was there with him every step of the way, in church, they grew together and would sing together.
My parents took care of a lot of people and even mentored a lot of artists.
Music producer Clive “Mono” Mukundu noted the support the late Stella gave her husband which helped in the development of the country’s music industry. Said Mukundu:
She was very supportive of her husband’s career. Sometimes she would be his backing vocalist, especially on live shows, although most of the time she supported him from behind the scenes.
One thing I liked about her is she remembered everything in her husband’s career and was very supportive and would always remind her husband of all the little details.
The late Stella Manatsa is survived by six children and 14 grandchildren.
