Zimbabwe Loses To Australia In The 2nd One Day International Match

Zimbabwe has lost to Australia by eight wickets in the second One Day International match in Townsville.

Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa collected three wickets each giving Australia a 2-0 series lead in the one-day international series at Riverway Stadium in Townsville.

ZBC News reports that Zimbabwe were unable to repeat their good batting performance from game one, crumbling for 96 all out in 27.5 overs.

The third and final match will be played at the same venue on Saturday 3 September.

Zimbabwe landed in Australia on Thursday last week for three One Day Internationals against the host nation, all to be played at Riverway Stadium in Townsville, a coastal city in northeastern Queensland.

The three matches against Australia are part of the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup Super League, the qualification pathway for the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India.

Zimbabwe went to Australia after suffering a 3-0 loss to India at home where they failed to pick up even a single point.

The Zimbabweans are second from the bottom in the 13-team log with 35 points, only better than the Netherlands who are at the bottom of the standings. Zimbabwe have recorded just three wins from the 18 matches they have played, with 14 losses and one no result.
