South Africa: Suspects In Foiled Promosa, Potchefstroom ATM Bombing In Court
The SAPS (South African Police Service) Saturday reported that Pogiso Sebotha (36) and Dennis Masimango (47), appeared in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court on Friday on a charge of possession of explosives.
They will remain in custody until their next court appearance on Tuesday, 2 August 2022, for a formal bail application.
The accused’s court appearance stems from their arrest on Tuesday midnight, 26 July 2022, after information was received of a planned ATM Bombing in Promosa, Potchefstroom.
According to information, the suspects were driving in two vehicles when spotted at Extension 7 by the police who were on patrol. Upon realising that the police were following them, the suspects sped off leading to a car chase.
The police managed to stop the first vehicle with four suspects inside however, two suspects managed to evade arrest by running into the nearby bushes. The second vehicle was intercepted in Aganang Street, Extension 7, but the suspects fled.

The police confiscated the two vehicles, a silver Honda Accord and a blue Volkswagen Golf, explosives, burglary tools, a battery and a pair of gloves.
