ZEC Announces Dates For Bulilima By-elections

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has announced that by-elections for Bulilima Rural District Council Wards1, 14 and 16 will be held on the 3rd of September 2022. The posts became vacant due to the resignation of ward 1 and 14 councillors and the death of the Ward 16 representative. The notice seen by Pindula News says the nomination court shall sit on the 2nd of August. Reads the notice issued by ZEC Chief Elections Officer Utloile Silaigwana:

ELECTORAL ACT [CHAPTER 2:13] Election Notice

Bulilima Rural District Council: Wards 1, 14 & 16 By-elections

It is hereby notified in terms of Section 121 A of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that following the resignations of Mlotshwa Tonny and Dube Mutungamili, and the death of Mabhena Delani who were Councillors for wards 1; 14 and 16 of Bulilima Rural District Council, vacancies have arisen in the said wards.

The Nomination Court for purposes of receiving nominations of candidates for election as councillors for the vacant wards shall sit on Tuesday 2 August 2022 commencing from 1000 hours to 1600 hours at the offices of the Bulilima Rural District Council, Plumtree. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission fixes Saturday, 3 September 2022 as the day on which a poll shall take place if it becomes necessary in terms of Section 125(4) (b) of the Electoral Act.
