Mitchell Jambo To Release Another Album In October

South African-based Zimbabwean musician, Mitchell Jambo, plans to release his 11th album in October this year.

The Thohoyandou-based recording artist rose to fame on the back of his hit song, “Ndini Uyo” released over a decade ago.

Jambo said he always released his albums in October because that is his birth month.

Jambo started his musical career in 1975 with a self-made “banzho” (traditional guitar made of wood), which he played for almost seven years before he touched an electric guitar.

Ten years later (1985), he started his own band and released his debut album called Bimbiso, which means Fhulufhelo (Faith), later that year.

Jambo eventually became a household name in Zimbabwe and used to do curtain raisers for international artists when they visited the country.

He later relocated to Thohoyandou, South Africa, where he has released several albums.

Jambo said although he resides in South Africa, he records his albums in Zimbabwe because he feels the studios in Zimbabwe are tailor-made for his type of music which he calls “zwingondo”.

Jambo celebrates his 52nd birthday in October. When asked about the secret of his “being-forever-young” look, he said the secret was cold water. He said:

If you want to look young all the time, bathe with cold water. Since I was young, I have always used cold water.
