Man Arrested For Bedding Mentally Ill Woman
A 56-year-old man from Simbuka village, Guyu in Gwanda District, Matabeleland South Province was arrested after he was allegedly caught red-handed having sexual intercourse with a mentally ill woman.
Onias Sibanda was recently hauled before Gwanda magistrate Lerato Nyati facing one count of rape.
Prosecuting, Ngonidzashe Shumba alleged that on 10 June 2022, Sibanda went to a nearby homestead at Simbuka village.
He entered the kitchen and found the 29-year-old woman who is mentally challenged, alone.
Sibanda had sexual intercourse with the woman fully aware that the victim was a mentally challenged person and hence could not consent to the act.

He was allegedly caught in the act by two unidentified women.
Sibanda was remanded in custody to 27 June.
