The Parliament of Zimbabwe has announced that 32 individuals have been shortlisted to be interviewed for the six (6) commissioner vacant posts at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). In a statement seen by Pindula News, the Parliament said the interviews are set to be held on Friday 17 June. Reads the statement:
ZIMBABWE ELECTORAL COMMISSION (ZEC) PUBLIC INTERVIEWS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY 17 JUNE 2022
The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) of the Parliament of Zimbabwe is mandated in terms of sections 237 and 238 of the Constitution, to nominate candidates for appointment by His Excellency. the President, to serve as Commissioners on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) as provided for in Chapter 12 of the Constitution.
The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders called on the public to nominate persons to be considered for appointment to six (6) vacancies in the Commission whose functions and person specifications are outlined under Section 239 of the Constitution. The nominations closed on the 11th of February 2022. The six (6) vacancies will arise after the 6th of July 2022 due to the expiry of the term of office for 6 current Commissioners, four (4) females and two (2) males.
The Parliament of Zimbabwe received seventy-two (72) nominations. fifty (50) males and twenty-two (22) females. by the closing date. The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders met on Friday 20 May 2022 to consider the suitability of the nominees to serve on this Commission.
The following thirty-two (32) shortlisted candidates are now advised to attend interviews in public on Friday, 17th of June, 2022. The venue is the SENATE Chamber. Ground Floor. Parliament Building corner Third Street and Kwame NkrumahAvenue. Harare.

The interviews will be conducted in line with COVID-19 regulations and protocols. All unvaccinated candidates will be required to bring a negative COVID-19 certificate issued within 48 hours prior to the interviews.
