Ali was kidnapped on the 24th of May, allegedly by her estranged boyfriend, Pius Jamba only to be found dead on the 11th of June. Her mutilated body was found in a well in the Nyatsime area.
The opposition CCC party accuses Simbarashe Chisango, who is a ZANU PF district chairperson in the Nyatsime area and a half-brother to the suspect, Jamba, of Ali’s disappearance and murder. In a statement published by Pindula News earlier, police say investigations are underway to establish what really transpired.
Oates a British Liberal Democrat politician and member of the House of Lords urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to end violence if he genuinely wants to reengage the international community. He said:
Tragic news of the murder of Moreblessing Ali, reported as yet another political killing. My deepest condolences to family & friends. The history of political violence, abductions & murder is sadly a long one in Zimbabwe. If @edmnangagwa wants re-engagement he has to end this now.
The news of Moreblessing’s murder is symptomatic of attempts to instil fear in opposition supporters which have been increasingly evident. Today I tabled questions in the UK Parliament on this issue. If @edmnangagwa
wants to reengage with the world. He needs to put a stop to this.
The ruling ZANU PF has denied involvement dismissing the matter as a case of domestic violence.
