Just In: Kubatana.net Is Closing

Kubatana.net, a civil society information hub in Zimbabwe has announced that it is closing. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Kubatana.net said they have been unable to secure the financial support to fund their operations hence the decision to close. Reads the statement:

Hello Fam,

This week’s newsletter looks a little different from normal, and that’s partly because we have big (and hard!) news to share with you. After 21 years of squeezing our way into your inboxes, our funky little e:zine – and our operations as an organization – are winding down at the end of this month.

21 years of verified, credible information

5 national elections covered

70 thousand weekly subscribers

Our community means the most to us, which is why we’re here to tell you this in person. We still believe that our work is absolutely essential – maybe more now than ever. But sadly, despite our relentless efforts, we have been unable to secure the financial support our operations require to continue. This has forced our board to take the difficult decision that we have to close our doors until we can find a way for our work to be more sustainable.
