Bouncers Banned From PSL Games

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has banned bouncers (the beefy and muscular club fanatics) from games.

Bouncers had turned into controversial figures on match days as they have a penchant for wantonly charging into the pitch at the slightest of provocations.

Some of them have over the years violated football rules with impunity and have become a law unto themselves.

One of the resolutions from a recent all-stakeholders meeting convened by the PSL to tackle violence and hooliganism in local football was to ban bouncers from stadiums. PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare said:

The PSL has instructed clubs to allow only qualified security personnel that are trained to handle crowd control into the areas around the pitch.

We have come up with a security manual that security clusters from the marshals, club security details to the Zimbabwe Republic Police must follow in order to prevent violence and hooliganism at all our matches in future.

In May, the PSL was forced to temporarily suspend the league to find ways of curbing hooliganism after a match between Highlanders and Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium was abandoned due to crowd trouble.

Both teams have been summoned to appear before a disciplinary hearing to answer to charges of bringing the game into disrepute.
