  • Cold conditions, coupled with the wind factor may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza and fever, as well as asthma, being common.
  • Rain and drizzle may affect outdoor activities.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • Farmers in areas prone to ground frost should undertake frost prevention measures such as overhead irrigation of crops usually at night /early in the morning.
  • Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustments made.
  • Keeping warm is important for everyone to avoid catching a cold. For expert advice on preventative and redemptive measures for colds and flu, please consult your local health practitioner.
  • Some may opt to use braziers to keep warm; however, this should be done in well-ventilated areas/rooms as it leads to carbon monoxide poisoning.
