Chief Mabhikwa Granted State-assisted Funeral

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has granted a state-assisted funeral for the late Chief Vusumuzi Khumalo Mabhikwa of Lupane.

Chief Mabhikwa died on Monday after he was involved in a road traffic accident on Sunday in Jotsholo, about six kilometres from his homestead.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga will represent Mnangagwa at the late chief’s burial in Jotsholo on Saturday, 28 May 2022.

A statement issued by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda, this Friday reads:

Following the untimely passing on of the late Chief Vusumuzi Khumalo Mabhikwa arising from a fatal road accident on Sunday, 22nd May 2022, His Excellency the President, Dr E.D. Mnangagwa, has directed that the late Chief Mabhikwa be granted State-assisted funeral.

This is in recognition of his dedication and commitment to national duty as a traditional leader and public servant.

The President has assigned his deputy, the Honourable Vice President, General (Retd) Dr C.G.D.N. Chiwenga, to represent him at the late Chief’s funeral in Jotsholo tomorrow, Saturday, 28 May 2022.

In 2019, Mnangagwa appointed Chief Mabhikwa as part of the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe board, after he was seconded by the Chiefs Council.
