Harare Restores Water Supplies To Western Suburbs

The City of Harare said that it has finished maintenance works which commenced on Friday at Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Works and Warren Control Pump station.

In a notice to residents on Monday evening, the Council said water was successfully restored to the Western Suburbs, with pumping expected to resume from Warren Control at 5 PM. Read the statement:

WE have completed the maintenance works that started on Friday at both Morton Jaffray water treatment works and Warren Control pump station. Pumping was successfully restored to the Western Suburbs.

However, Northern Suburbs which access water through Warren Control had challenges which are being rectified.

Pumping from Warren Control is set to resume at 1700hrs.

Sincere apologies for all inconveniences arising thereof.

Harare City Council announced on Friday, 22 April, that it would be shutting down Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant over the weekend.

Council said this was being done to pave way for the replacement of a corroded reservoir feeder pipe and the installation of reservoir, suction and discharge valves at Warren Control.

The City of Harare said the waterworks would be shut down from Friday at 1600 hrs to Sunday 24 April at 1400 hrs.

Prior to the announcement, several suburbs, among them Warren Park, had been without water for three days, forcing residents to buy the precious liquid from the few boreholes available in the suburb.
