The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued an update on the shootout that transpired between police and armed robbers at a service station near Harare Exhibition Centre on the 30th of March. ZRP UPDATE ON THE SHOOTING INCIDENT AT A SERVICE STATION NEAR HARARE EXHIBITION CENTRE
Reference is made to the recent shootout incident between the Zimbabwe Republic Police members and armed robbery suspects on 30th March 2022 at a service station near Harare Exhibition Centre. This led to the subsequent arrest of Thulani Maphosa (30), Dalubuhle Ndlovu (36), Michael Khauyiso (47), Precious Dube (40) and death of one suspect Meluleki Makhalima. A navy blue Toyota Corolla (AEC 7253) which was being used as a second get-away car by the suspects was recovered.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police informs the public that the South African registered WV Polo (FJO3FMGP) used as first getaway car was dumped at a certain house in Norton by yet to be identified male and female suspects on 3e March 2022. The two requested to leave the car for safekeeping on the pretext that it had developed a mechanical fault and were going to look for a mechanic.
The police has since recovered a number of items from the vehicle which include towels, sandals, satchel, clothes, bank cards, cellphones reflective triangles, tackies, sports jerseys, HIV testing kits, South African working permits and a passport.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has intensified investigations with a view of arresting suspects only identified as Sean, Fundisani and the two who left the VW Polo vehicle in Norton.
