'Passengers' Rob Motorist Of A Toyota Hiace & US$180

Another motorist was attacked and robbed of his vehicle and cash by men he had offered a lift from Harare on Saturday.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the motorist, who has not been named, was travelling to Marondera.

He offered a lift to Tafadzwa Goremusandu (36) and Olatious Mayemba (44) at Simon Muzenda bus terminus in Harare.

Along the way, the two suspects attacked the complainant and took control of the vehicle and diverted the route towards Ten Miles where they dumped the complainant.

However, the suspected hijackers were seized by members of the public after the vehicle broke down a short distance from where they had dumped their victim. Police said in a statement:

Police in Marondera arrested Tafadzwa Goremusandu (36) and Olatious Mayemba (44) for a robbery case where they robbed a complainant of US$180 cash and a Toyota Hiace baby Quantum vehicle after they were offered a lift to Marondera, at Simon Muzenda bus termini, Harare.

The suspects attacked the complainant and stabbed him thrice in the chest, right thigh and right limp.

One of the suspects took charge of the vehicle and diverted the route towards Ten Miles where they dumped the complainant by the roadside.

The suspects were apprehended by members of the public, a short distance from where they had dumped the complainant after the stolen vehicle broke down.

This comes after a 47-old motorist was robbed of his vehicle by people he offered a lift at Whitehouse on his way to Norton on Friday.

According to the police, the three suspects also stole an HP core i7 laptop, a wallet with personal documents and US$23 cash from the complainant.
