The MDC Alliance says the purported suspension of the coalition’s president, Douglas Mwonzora by one of his coalition principals is a nullity.
Marakia Bomani, the Coordinator of the MDC Alliance Secretariat, wrote a letter to Mwonzora on Sunday, informing him of his suspension.
However, MDC Alliance secretary for information and publicity Nqobizitha Khumalo said Bomani’s letter was null and void. Said Khumalo:
Please note that MDC Alliance has no position of Secretariat Alliance Coordinator in its organogram.
Also note that there is no entity within the Alliance that is called the Secretariat which has powers to decide on who leads the Alliance, let alone firing anyone from any position in the same.
Further, note that executive decisions in the Alliance are made by the Liaison Committee and the Principals Forum.
So far, none of these committees has sat and agreed on the purported suspension.
The purported suspension of Douglas Mwonzora as Alliance leader is therefore null and void and the Alliance fully distances itself from it.
While Mwonzora’s erstwhile colleagues have already written his political epitaph, the MDC-T leader whose party failed to win a single seat in the 26 March by-elections, said he will emerge from the electoral loss like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
We are not worried about a person with zero votes. Mwonzora broke a world record!
Haaaa damburanai zvenyu.Kana shungu. We know that this was going to happen especially fot those who are after money.
