Zimbabwe Weather Report & Forecast: 15 To 17 March 2022

Weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection.

PREAMBLE

Localized heavy downpours occurred in and around Harare yesterday, with the highest amounts of rainfall being 50mm (Royal Harare Golf Club), 36mm (Harare, Belvedere), 29mm (Harare, Kutsaga), 26mm (Harare, Logan Park).

Kezi and West Nicholson had 23mm and 15mm respectively; signifying the approach of a cloud-band from Botswana which is headed eastward.

Meanwhile, moist south-easterly winds, due to the remnant circulation of the overland depression (Gombe) are slowly drifting westward across Mozambique.

FORECAST FOR WEDNESDAY 16 MARCH 2022

It should be mostly cloudy across Zimbabwe However, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, northern areas of Midlands, Harare Metropolitan and all Mashonaland Provinces are expected to be humid and warm with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

Localized downpours (exceeding 30mm) are probable, especially over Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan and northern parts of Midlands.

On the other hand, provinces such as Masvingo and Manicaland as well as the southern districts of Midlands are forecast to be windy, mild and cloudy with light rain and drizzle.

WEATHER FORECAST THURSDAY 17 MARCH 2022

Cloudy and mild conditions are expected over much of the country with scattered rain-showers which could be thundery in places.

Localized heavy rains exceeding 30mm are probable, especially over Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan and northern parts of Midlands, as well as northern districts of Manicaland Province.

A cool south-easterly breeze is anticipated towards evening (more felt over Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces).
