"There Is Hunger For Change Amongst Zimbabweans" - Piers Pigou

Piers Pigou, a Consultant for the International Crisis Group, and also a Consultant for Cabo Ligado, said Zimbabweans are hungry for change.

He was commenting on pictures of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Sunday rally held at Mkoba, Gweru that were circulated on social media. He said:

There is a hunger for change amongst these Zimbabweans. The country remains locked in a political trajectory, curated in the main by ZanuPF, that promotes a zero-sum approach to political power.

The ruling ZANU PF is accused of collapsing a “once vibrant” economy through “corruption and poor policies.”

Authorities, however, blame sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe following the chaotic land reform programme at the turn of the millennium.

All these comments come as Zimbabwe is gearing for the 26 March by-elections and 2023 elections with the opposition pledging to resolve the crises in the country.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration says it has made significant progress since taking over from the Robert Mugabe-led administration, therefore, they deserve to be given a new mandate.
