'No Formal Complaints On Bulawayo's New Parking Fees'
Bulawayo Mayor, Councillor Solomon Mguni said the City of Bulawayo had not received any formal complaint regarding the new parking fees in the Central Business District (CBD).
The local authority, in partnership with a South African company, Tendy Three Investments (TTI), introduced new parking on Friday, with residents and motorists denouncing the fees as too high.
During the first two days of implementation, TTI set up 147 prime parking bays in the city where they are charging US$1 for 30 minutes.
The fees are payable using the local currency at the official bank rate.
By the end of the project, there will be 7 200 parking bays that will be under the system.

Motorists boycotted the bays on Friday and Saturday but according to Mguni, no formal complaint has been lodged over the new fees. He said:
We have not received formal complaints or a progress report as council regarding the parking issue.
Remember this project officially started on 18 February 2022 and our partner is handling it for now.
For now, it will only be fair to get a comment from the partner.
The parking system will be in operation from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
However, on Sundays and public holidays, it would not be operational.
