Mwonzora's Councillor Reportedly Collapses After Losing Mayoral Post
Mutare deputy mayor, Farai Bhiza (MDC Alliance), reportedly collapsed and passed urine in his trousers after he lost elections in his bid to become the new mayor of the eastern border town.
His rival, Advocate Simon Chabuka, Citizens Coalition for Change candidate, won the race after getting 6 votes against Bhiza’s 5.
The election which sought to replace former mayor, Alderman Blessing Tandi who was recalled as a councillor by Douglas Mwonzora, was held at Mutare Civic Centre and attended by District Development Co-ordinator (DDC) Wilson Boore.
Tandi had served the city as a councillor for 15 years.
Reports say Bhiza was attended to by the City Council paramedics and nurses and was rushed to a nearby health facility after Boore announced the results.

Council spokesperson Spren Mutiwi confirmed to Chipinge Times the results of the elections but would not be drawn into commenting on the incident.
Chabuka also spoke to Chipinge Times:
I can confirm that he was shocked by the results and he later collapsed and messed himself up before he was taken to a nearby clinic.
Bhiza, however, dismissed the reports saying people were just mocking him. Bhiza later told NewsDay:
I did not faint; it is just politics at play. People are mocking me as if I lost a presidential election. We should focus on service delivery, not the gossiping. You hear about me fainting, but the mayoral elections are over and we need to work as councillors to produce the best service delivery in Mutare.
He added that he was currently in his ward “serving my people.”
