Suspended ZIFA President Kamambo Stopped From Going To Cameroon

The suspended Executive Committee President of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Felton Kamambo was Friday stopped from leaving Harare for Yaounde.

Kamambo reportedly intended to go to Cameroon to meet with Fifa President Gianni Iñfantino but Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport security stopped him from proceeding.

Meanwhile, Farai Jere, the Premier Soccer League boss, suspended from Zifa Exco together with Kamambo proceeded to board the Ethiopian Airlines Airbus to Addis Ababa en route to Cameroon.

Jere will join Dynamos chair Isaiah Mupfurutsa, already in Cameroon where they will meet other club leaders in a meeting over the proposed African Super Cup league.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe invited the big clubs for the meeting where the Superleague is proposed to start in September next year.

Kamambo and Philemon Machana (Board member Finance) also tried last month to travel to Cameroon during the group stages matches and were foiled.

The Kamambo-led ZIFA administration is embroiled in a dispute with the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) which accuses the board of abusing public funds.
