Zimbabwean Isaac Mabaya Scores As Liverpool U18s Beat Burnley 4-1

Zimbabwean teenager, Isaac Mabaya, was on the scoresheet this Saturday as Liverpool U18s beat Burley 4-1 at The Academy in a Premier League match.

Isaac Mabaya, 17, who plays in the right-back, and central midfield positions, scored in the 81st minute to make it 3 for the Reds.

Born in Preston with Zimbabwean heritage, Mabaya joined Liverpool’s youth ranks as a six-year-old, and due to injury problems his progress to the fringes of the first team is still in its infancy.

Though he is a natural midfielder, Mabaya has been used as a right-back on a number of occasions this season, and his ability to drive past players with pace and power has made him a standout.

The Reds got their first goal from Harvey Blair who scored on the quarter-hour. His goal was levelled in the 46th minute (final seconds of the first half) by a Sean Etaluku equaliser.

The home side got back in front soon after the restart with Oakley Cannonier scoring in the 51st minute.

They sealed the win late on through Isaac Mabaya and Melkamu Frauendorf.

Liverpool U18s: Davies, Mabaya, Scanlon, Miles, Chambers, Pilling, Frauendorf, McConnell, Cannonier, Clark, Blair.

Unused substitutes: Lucky, Hewitson, Davidson, Figueroa.
