ZIMRA Investigates Fire Incident At Its Offices

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is investigating the cause of a fire that briefly flared up at their Kurima House offices on Thursday before it was quickly extinguished.

Some reports had suggested that the fire could have been started by an electrical fault or deliberately by someone who wanted to destroy some documents.

In a statement, ZIMRA’s Corporate Affairs Executive, Gladman Njanji, said there was no loss of life or injuries. He said:

ZIMRA wishes to inform stakeholders and the public that there has been a fire incident on one of the floors at our Kurima House offices in Harare, which has since been contained.

The fire was easily contained using internal firefighting equipment and the Fire Brigade came just in time when the fire was put out. All members of staff were safely evacuated.
