Woman, Mother-in-law Peel Off Zvishavane Man’s Organ

Two women from Vengai Village under Chief Mazvihwa have appeared in court after they allegedly skinned a Zvishavane man’s penis from the head up to the point where the organ meets the testicles.

The incident reportedly happened three weeks ago on Christmas Day.

The accused, Gladys Shava (26) and her mother Laida Mwedzi (45), are wife and mother-in-law, respectively, to the complaint, Onias Hove of Zvishavane.

They appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Archie Wochiunga last Thursday for attempted murder charges, according to court papers seen by The Mirror.

The daughter and mother pair allegedly also tried to cut off Hove’s penis from near the testicles thereby leaving it dangling by a tiny piece of flesh.

Hove’s relatives suspect that the two women wanted to sell the skin and penis to be used for juju in South Africa.

One of Hove’s relatives, Calvin Domire-Sani, told The Mirror that doctors have written off Hove’s penis and said it will be “useless” even if it is saved from being cut off completely. He said:

His life is hanging precariously after going through this gruesome cruelty. He will no longer be able to sleep with a woman even if he is to survive.

… They locked him in the house for three days until someone alerted us. We found him almost dead and the two said that the skin peeled off as they were “playing” with the penis.

Hove and Shava had stayed for many years as husband and wife at Mwedzi’s homestead, court documents revealed.

The skinning incident occurred just after Hove’s wife had returned from South Africa. The two suspects reportedly struck him on the head and he fell unconscious.

It is said the duo pulled Hove into the house where they skinned his penis and he became alert when they were trying to cut it off.

The two were remanded in custody to 17 January 2022. The magistrate also advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.
