In January this year, police launched operation “No to Cross Border Crimes/ Fhasi Ngamilandu Yamukanoni Yamashango/Mhosva Pamiganhu Ngadzipere/Amacala Kawaphele Emingceleni Yelizwe” in a bid to combat border-related crimes such as smuggling and border jumping.

This came after Zimbabwe and South Africa had closed the Beitbridge Border Post to ordinary travellers as part of the two countries’ efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
