Mapeza Seeks To “Restore” Zimbabwe’s Pride With Warriors Vs Bafana Bafana Match

Warriors interim coach Norman Mapeza has said the Warriors aim to win their penultimate Group H match against Bafana Bafana to restore Zimbabwe’s pride.

Zimbabwe take on neighbours South Africa in a World Cup qualifying match at FNB Stadium tomorrow night.

Zimbabwe failed to progress to the next stage from their pool following a home draw against South Africa in their opener and three successive losses to Ethiopia and Ghana (twice). Two matches remain. Mapeza said:

We want to win the game.

As a nation, we have a battered pride, so we need to restore our pride. We will definitely go out there and try to get a positive result. We have to go out there with a positive mind and try to fight for the national badge and get back home with a good result.

While Zimbabwe is using the two matches to prepare the team for January’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, South Africa need a win to give them a good chance of finishing ahead of Ghana.
