Families Still In The Open After Being Evicted From Mafiosi's Farm
About five families are still in the open following their eviction last week at Insingiza Farm owned by expelled former Zanu PF provincial chairperson Dickson Mafiosi and his brother Tichaona Danny Kasukuwere.
The district development coordinator Mr Richard Chipfuva said they have dispatched the provincial civil committee to find a way to assist the remaining families.
About 100 farm workers were evicted from the farm and most of the affected families have found alternative jobs and accommodation. Chipfuva said:
We are sending a civil protection unit to negotiate the removal of the remaining farmworkers from the open because they do not have anywhere else to go. We ask them where they want to go and we facilitate transport.
We have identified vacant houses at Pemento Park Farm, about three kilometres from where they are and we want to see if they can be accommodated there. Our target is to ensure that by tomorrow, the remaining families have found accommodation.

We allowed the displaced families to look for alternative employment and accommodation before we chip in with the transport assistance.
Women and children were aimlessly wandering around with their properties by the roadside along the Bindura-Harare highway when The Herald visited the farm last week.
One of the farmworkers, Mr Gift Sande, said they stopped working in 2014 due to poor working conditions and remuneration.
They said they were served with an eviction order in 2014 and they approached lawyers for advice on the matter. They said the issue subdued for all these years and were surprised when the messenger of the court arrived last week serving them with an eviction order and throwing our property outside.
They said they started working on the farm in the 1990s, therefore, they have nowhere to go adding that the eviction will affect their children who were still going to school.
