Chinese Embassy Urges Probe Into Fatal Blast At Zimbabwean Mine

The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe has called for a thorough investigation into the cause of a mine accident that killed 6 Chinese nationals in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central Province on Thursday.

In a statement on Saturday, the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe said it is in close communication with Zimbabwean authorities.

Six Chinese nationals died and another was critically injured in an oxygen cylinder blast at SAS Mine, Lowdale, under Mazowe Rural District Council on Thursday.

A young Zimbabwe worker at the mine was killed in the first blast on Wednesday and another local died in the other blast on Thursday.

Initial reports indicate that negligence on the part of mine authorities led to the tragic incidents.
