The ZRP warns motorists against speeding especially when approaching checkpoints and rdblocks. This follows a fatal RTA which occurred on 2/10/21 (0503 hrs) at a Police rdblock near Ushewekunze turn off, along S Mazorodze Rd, where a police officer manning the rdblock died.

A man (26) driving a Yutong bus failed to stop at the roadblock due to speeding and hit a Toyota Hiace vehicle which in turn collided with a Honda Fit vehicle.

As a result, the Toyota Hiace vehicle swerved and knocked down a police officer, who later died upon admission at Sally Mugabe Hospital.

In May, ZRP announced that it was hunting for a kombi (commuter omnibus) driver, Morris Mukwendi (27) who ran over a police officer at a roadblock.

The traffic officer Assistant Inspector Dumisani Pondo was knocked down while manning a roadblock along the City-Amaveni Road and was admitted to Gweru Provincial Hospital.

In June, a police officer was crushed to death by a Zupco bus along City-Khami Road, Bulawayo.

Constable Parity Makaitei Karimazondo was with her colleagues manning a roadblock and she tried to cross the road when the bus knocked her down before dragging her for about 30 metres and grinding her into pieces.

  1. Irrespective of why the lady was crossing the road – she has become another victim of ABSOLUTE TOTAL LAWLESSNESS on our roads because of drinking whilst driving that is happening 24 hours of the day. One has to ask: where are the cops. In my little town I see so many drivers buying various types of alcohol at the local booze store, opening the bottle then getting into the driver’s seat and driving off. But where are Zimbabwe Rotten Police?. Why don’t they stand outside the booze shop and stop them?
