ZANU PF Official Threatens "Taliban Style" In Response To US Call For Elections In Zimbabwe
Zanu PF Director of Information and Publicity Tafadzwa Mugwadi has threatened the “Taliban way” in response to the United States’ call for Zimbabwe to hold by-elections.
Zimbabwe last year postponed by-elections indefinitely citing a surge in the number of coronavirus infections in the country.
The U.S., however, through its Embassy in Harare, believes Zimbabwe can successfully and safely conduct elections the same way its neighbours, Zambia and South Africa as well as Malawi have. Said the U.S. Embassy in Harare:
When will the Zimbabwean government resume by-elections? Long-standing parliamentary vacancies have left over 754,000 voters in 26 constituencies without elected representation. Only by-elections will restore these citizens’ rights to representation. #ZimVotesMatter

Surely, the US Embassy knows where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located. Should there be a need for a conversation on this subject you can easily engage them and get a briefing. These highly inflammatory tweets are as much disrespectful as they are unnecessary.
However, Tafadzwa Mugwadi, who is a former ZINASU leader said the U.S. must brace for humiliation if they “meddle” in Zimbabwean politics. He said:
We will do it the Taliban way!! Stay far from our lane or the consequences will be humiliating the Taliban style.
Don’t ask me what is the Taliban style. Ask the gringos who created a puppet Gvt, supported it for 20 years with war, only to be over-ran by Talibans leaving guns, war jets, helicopters, cash, whiskey & their puppets at the hands of Afghan Talibans kkk. Lesson: Puppets are losers.
His remarks come as the Taliban, an Islamist militant group, recently seized power in Afghanistan following a two-decade-long war with the U.S. and its allied forces.
The U.S. ousted the Taliban government in 2001 accusing it of harbouring Ossama Bin Laden and widespread human rights abuses.
