Kadewere, Munetsi, Hadebe Confirm Availability For WCQs

Several Warriors players in Europe called up for national duty have confirmed their availability for next month’s World Cup qualifiers (WCQs) against South Africa and Ethiopia.

France based duo of Tino Kadewere and Marshal Munetsi, as well as United States-based defender Teenage Hadebe all confirmed their availability to H-Metro.

Kadewere and Munetsi play in Ligue 1 for Olympique Lyonnais and Stade de Reims respectively while Hadebe plays for Houston Dynamo.

This comes after English Premier League and English Football League clubs announced that they will not release players for international duty during the September window.

The clubs cited travel restrictions imposed by the British government on red-listed countries that required travellers to quarantine for 10 days on return to the United Kingdom, meaning that players would miss up to three domestic matches.

Meanwhile, CAF said it has written to the UK government to exempt all players on international duty from the restrictions.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino also wrote to the British government, urging them to exempt players from COVID-19 “red-list” countries like Zimbabwe from mandatory quarantine on return.
