Statement on the National Standing Committee

The MDC-T National Standing Committee met today at the Morgan Tsvangirai House in Harare, under strict COVID 19 protocols, to consider various pertinent and strategic issues of local and international importance.

The meeting deliberated on the recent electoral process in Zambia and appreciated the statesmanship shown by all the political leaders in the aftermath of the process. The meeting further extended its warm congratulations to President-Elect Hakainde Hichilema.

A report on the MDC-A pact engagements was circulated and the resolutions adopted by the Committee. As the official leader of this pact, according to the August 7, 2016, agreement, the MDC-T assures its partners that it is fully committed to the MDC Alliance.

The Committee received the Finance and Administration report from the Secretary-General, who is the head of the Finance and Admin Sub Committee, on the state of the party finances. Contrary to the false reports circulating in the media of financial impropriety, the Committee observed that this is not true.
