Statement by national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on the abuse of a Glendale boy by a female relative.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has taken note of social media reports concerning the physical and social abuse of a Glendale boy by a relative.

Police confirm that the case is now under investigation and the boy has been taken to a place of safety by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Social Welfare Department.

The minor has been taken for medical examination and we are now waiting for the full medical report. Witness statements are being recorded from neighbours and some relatives. This will guide the Police on the next course of action in this case.

The public should take note that the assault video trending on social media where a woman is seen brutally assaulting a minor (girl) is not linked to the Glendale case. Police are still investigating whether the video relates to Zimbabwe or not.
