Botswana Colleges To Reopen For Completing Classes

Botswana is set to reopen higher institutions of learning for completing classes on the 24th of August 2021.

However, Botswana’s Ministry of Employment Labour Productivity and Skills Development (MELSD) recently postponed the reopening of schools which had been scheduled for the 17th of August.

In a statement this Monday, MELSD permanent secretary Gaeimelwe Goitsemang said new dates for the remaining groups which are not sitting for end of year final examinations will be communicated in due course. The statement read:

Following the public announcement that schools will remain closed by a further three (3) weeks, the Ministry of Employment Labour Productivity and Skills Development (MELSD) informs learners, lecturers and all relevant stakeholders that its institutions (Brigades & Certificate offering Technical Colleges) will not reopen on Tuesday 17th August 2021 as previously communicated.

However, completing classes (Trade Test C, Trade test B & National Craft Certificate (NCC)], Certificate in Accounting & Business (ABC programmes) and Certificate in Computer Studies (CCS) will open on the 24th August 2021.

New dates for the remaining groups which are not sitting for end of year final examinations will be communicated in due course. Therefore, all learners should remain home until further notice.

In addition, interviews for enrolment on ABC programmes that were scheduled for 17th August 2021 have been postponed until further notice.
