Rajoelina on Sunday criticized some of his ministers’ performances as being unsatisfactory. He was quoted by Reuters as saying:

Like in a football team, you have to change when there are failures in government.

There will be a change and this concerns those who do not carry out the work entrusted to them.

The Indian Ocean island is still dealing with a suspected attempt to kill the president, with more than 20 people placed under investigation, including five high-ranking army generals, several police officers and a French citizen.

Rajoelina first came to power in 2009 after he successfully orchestrating a coup against Marc Ravalomanana.

He remained in control at the head of a transitional government until 2014.

He took office for his current term in January 2019 after winning the country’s 2018 presidential election.
